The short answer is Initio Oud for Greatness, and the match is closer than almost any other comparison in this category. But that answer only applies to one bottle out of six, and the one people most often buy by mistake shares nothing with it at all. Here is the whole picture, counted rather than guessed.
How we are measuring this
Most dupe articles give you a percentage. Those numbers are invented. Nobody outside the lab knows the formula, so a figure like 92 percent is somebody’s impression dressed up as data.
We do something duller and more useful. We take the original’s published note list, count how many of those materials also appear in the Lattafa, and give you the fraction. Six of six means every material the original publishes turns up in the other bottle. Zero of six means none of them do. You can check the arithmetic yourself, which is the point.
Shared notes are not the same as a shared smell. Proportions, quality of materials and how long each one lasts all change the result, and the note list says nothing about any of that. A high count means the two were built from the same shopping list. It does not mean you will be unable to tell them apart.
Oud for Glory and Initio Oud for Greatness
This is the comparison that made the range famous, and it is the real thing.
Oud for Glory is built on saffron, nutmeg and lavender over agarwood, patchouli and musk. Six materials. The original publishes the same six. Not five of six with a substitution, not six of nine with three missing. The same six materials, scoring six of six.
That is the highest score we have recorded against any Lattafa in this exercise, and it is why this particular bottle built the reputation of the entire Badee Al Oud name. Where the two part company is in how they are built rather than what they are built from. The original is the more refined of the two and the saffron in it reads smoother. Oud for Glory is louder in the opening and blunter in the drydown. Side by side, most people can tell which is which. Across a room, most people cannot.
The comparison here refers to the scent profile only. Oud for Glory is Lattafa’s own composition in its own bottle and packaging, distinct from the original in every respect. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Initio Parfums Prives.
The mistake people make with Honor and Glory
Both names contain the word Glory. They sit next to each other on the same shelf, under the same family name, in similar bottles. So people reach for Honor and Glory expecting the oud one and get something else entirely.
Honor and Glory shares zero of the original’s six notes. Not one. It is pineapple and creme brulee pulled savoury with cinnamon, turmeric and black pepper, landing on vanilla, sandalwood, cashmeran and moss. There is no agarwood in it, no saffron, no patchouli, no musk.
It is a good fragrance and an unusual one. It is simply not a version of Oud for Greatness, and no amount of shared branding makes it one. If somebody sold you Honor and Glory as the Oud for Greatness dupe, they either had not checked or were hoping you would not.
The rest of the range, graded
| Most often compared to | Shared notes | How well it holds up | |
| Oud for Glory | Initio Oud for Greatness | 6 of 6 | Every material in the original’s published list turns up in it. The strongest match in the range by a distance |
| Amethyst | Initio Atomic Rose | Not counted | The claim is repeated widely enough to take seriously, but we have not yet counted it against the original’s note list, so we are not grading it |
| Honor and Glory | No agreement | 0 of 6 | Claims point in several directions at once and none of them holds. It shares nothing with Oud for Greatness despite the shared word |
| Sublime | Kayali Juicy Apple, occasionally | Not counted | One seller says so and almost nobody else repeats it. Treat it as a hint rather than a match |
| Amethyst Fusion | Nothing established | n/a | A 2026 release. Too new for any settled view to have formed |
| Black Exposed | Nothing established | n/a | A 2026 release. Too new for any settled view to have formed |
Two things in that table are worth saying out loud.
The Amethyst comparison to Atomic Rose gets repeated a lot, and it may well be right. We have not counted it against the original’s published notes yet, so we are not going to put a number on it. When we have, we will update this page with the fraction.
Amethyst Fusion and Black Exposed both came out in 2026. Any confident claim about what they clone is somebody guessing, because there has not been time for a consensus to form. Be suspicious of a shop that tells you otherwise.
Is the dupe worth it
On Oud for Glory, the honest answer is yes, with a caveat about what you are buying.
You are not buying the original cheaply. You are buying a fragrance built from the same six materials, assembled with less finesse, at a fraction of the cost. If you want the smell in the air around you, that difference matters far less than the price gap suggests. If you care about how a fragrance behaves in the first ten minutes on your own skin, you will notice.
The group that should think harder is people who already own and love the original. A six of six match means Oud for Glory is not an addition to your collection, it is a cheaper version of something you have. Buy it for the car or the gym, not for the shelf.
Before you buy any of them
Note lists are a guide to construction, not a prediction of whether you will like something. Two fragrances can share every material and still sit differently on your skin, and a dupe you dislike is not cheaper than a bottle you wear.
Every fragrance here comes as a 5ml discovery vial. If you are chasing a specific comparison, buy the vial and settle it on your own skin rather than taking anyone’s word for it, ours included.
If you want the full note lists for all six and a breakdown of which ones contain real agarwood, that is covered in our guide to the whole Badee Al Oud range.
All comparisons on this page describe scent profile only and are based on published note lists and wearer consensus. Every fragrance named as an original is the trade mark of its respective owner.
